Jeanna Fine: The Passing of a Friend and Icon

How do you best memorialize a legend? I’ve been struggling with that question for days now. The adult entertainment world said goodbye to one of its most captivating stars this month. Jeanna Fine, born on September 29, 1964, in New York City, passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 61. To say she will be sorely missed by friends, family and former colleagues – is the understatement of the decade.

After a dozen phone calls incoming and outgoing, we slowly became certain that our own Jeanna, that wild-hearted vixen who lit up screens and souls alike, had slipped away from us.

From her obituary:

“It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved Angelique “angel” Michelle Payson Bernstein on November 7, 2025, due to heart failure…. Though her life took many turns, she faced each chapter with boldness and heart. In the early years, Angel moved to California, where she found success and fame in the adult film industry in the late 1980’s and early 1990’2, something she never shied away from and that she still claimed many fans from many decades later.”

Jeanna would talk about growing up now and then – stories thick with detail, the kind that put you on those streets with her. Flushing, Queens to be exact. New York shaped her, obviously. She chased things with this iron-headed refusal to back down. The setbacks she’d muscled past, the goals she’d hunted until they were hers – she’d lay it all out, and suddenly your own hang-ups felt smaller, more manageable.

A Friendship Spanning Decades

I was a mix of shattered, heartbroken, and devastated when I got the news two weeks ago. It’s taken me that long to pull together to pay tribute here on my site. She was not only my longtime co-star but more, importantly, a friend.

First Victoria, then Sally, and now Jeanna. What the fuck, life? Do I cry Uncle? Universe: please stop!

Jeanna and I shared a professional respect that grew into a lasting friendship, even as our lives pulled us in different directions. The years would fade away the moment we reconnected, whether at industry events or just catching up over the phone.

A Golden Era Legend

Jeanna wasn’t just another performer – she was a force of nature who left an indelible mark on the “golden age of porn.” She was an adult star’s adult star, as they say.
What set Jeanna apart wasn’t just her slender figure or the signature short haircuts later in her career – though there was something enticingly scorching about her look that drew people in. It was the raw, unfiltered intensity she brought to every performance. Critics and fans alike noted how she could channel sexuality in a way that felt almost animalistic, genuine, and overwhelming.

Her performances weren’t just acted – they were felt, often reducing her to tears as she approached climax, a vulnerability that made her scenes remarkable. And that voice! Oh, that deep, sexy voice. It would have entire sets watching from off camera.

Our Early Days on Set

I worked with Jeanna on several major films starting in the late 1980s. Our first collaboration was in Hypatia Lee’s Wild Wild West, where I believe I was part of her very first girl-girl scene. She was incredibly nervous that day, calling me “Ms. Lynn” at first, which tapped into her submissive side. I went with that energy and spanked her during the scene, which sent her into a frenzy. The result was a standout moment – she often shared the story throughout her career that I “broke her G/G cherry,” and it set the tone for our mutual respect as colleagues and friends.

What an actress she was. One of the best in the entire history of the industry. Jeanna was an exceptional performer, completely immersing herself in her roles. She embodied her characters with a raw intensity that felt genuine, drawing from deep emotion that left lasting impressions.

Later Collaborations and Shared Moments

We had more great cinematic adventures together. In 1995, marking my comeback, she played my lesbian wife as part of Vivid’s iconic series in Where the Boys Aren’t 6, a project that brought us back into the spotlight with strong chemistry and co-stars like Janine, Julia Ann and Sarah Jane Hamilton.

We also teamed up in No Man’s Land: Legends for a three-way all-girl scene with former Playboy Playmate Teri Weigel, which generated real heat and connected with fans on a deep level.

One of the heavier moments we shared was when she called me after Savannah’s suicide. Jeanna blamed herself, and I often wonder what might have changed if she hadn’t reached out that day – her grief was tremendous and I will never forget that conversation. She had immense vulnerability off-screen, beyond the confident performer everyone saw.

Her Talent and Legacy

What made Jeanna stand out wasn’t just her many eras and looks. She was a tempest, who brought unfiltered passion to every performance. Critics and fans noted how she channeled sexuality in an animalistic, overwhelming way. Between 1986 and 2002 she appeared in nearly 500 titles, earning her a spot in the AVN Hall of Fame and multiple Best Actress awards.

Beyond the camera, Jeanna showed her intelligence through her sex advice column in Hustler magazine, offering insights into the emotional side of desire that resonated. She was unapologetically authentic in an industry that sometimes lacked it, inspiring performers (like me) to embrace our craft.
